Private beta · UK
The visitor is AI.
The desk is yours.
Double Take puts an AI character at your real reception desk, through a tablet you already have. Your team talks them down by voice, then gets a scored debrief. Every scenario is written by people who managed hostile conversations for a living.
- iPad and Android tablets
- Voice, not multiple choice
- No headset
Written by people who have done this for real.
Our scenario team comes from human intelligence (HUMINT) operations. That work depends on reading people, building rapport fast and keeping control of a conversation under pressure.
It is the same skill your reception team needs at 8.55 on a Monday, with a queue at the gates.
Human intelligence (HUMINT) operators
Rapport, elicitation and reading intent
They design what each character wants, what they hide and what they will accept.
Certified kidnap for ransom and extortion (K&R) response managers
Negotiation when the stakes are real
They shape how a character escalates, and what brings them back down.
Trained interrogators
Questioning, resistance and control of a conversation
They write the hidden facts that only a good conversation uncovers.
Security and risk management specialists
Site policy, access control and UK regulation
They make sure the right answer is the one your site would expect.
Place. Talk. Debrief.
A session takes less than ten minutes and needs one tablet. It fits a quiet moment on shift, at the desk where the real thing happens.
1Plane locked · reception desk
Place the character
Point the tablet at your desk. The app finds the floor and stands a life-size character on the visitor side. No space? Flat-screen mode uses the same character.
2Agitation 6 → 3
Talk them down
Speak normally. The character hears you and answers in voice. A scenario director tracks their agitation from 0 to 10, and reacts to what you say and how you say it.
35 skills scored
Get a debrief
The session ends when the character calms down, pushes past or runs out of time. The debrief scores five skills and shows the moments that changed the outcome.
Starting at reception.
The beta has three scenarios, with more to follow. Tell us which situations your team faces when you register.
The missed meeting
A contractor with no pass and a host who does not answer.
The tailgater
A confident man who follows staff through the speed gates.
The distressed visitor
A frightened man who needs to find his wife upstairs.
More in development
Our specialists are writing the next ones now.
The people who meet the public first.
Contract security firms
Give officers repeat practice between classroom days, on the sites they guard.
In-house security and reception
Practise at your own desk, against your own site policy, in a quiet ten minutes.
Facilities and workplace teams
Prepare front-of-house staff who are not licensed but meet every visitor.
SIA training providers
Add realistic practice to the conflict management skills your courses teach.
Three changes push UK teams towards scenario practice.
More than 450,000 people in the UK hold an SIA licence. In a 2021 survey, 68% of security officers had no training after their first qualification (source). Classroom role-play is hard to fit around 12-hour shifts.
Three changes now make regular, recorded practice more valuable.
April 2026
Crime and Policing Act 2026
Royal Assent on 29 April 2026 created a standalone offence of assaulting a retail worker. Staff safety is now a board-level subject. Source
Winter 2026
New SIA qualification specifications
The Security Industry Authority proposes more real-life scenarios in conflict management. New licence-linked qualifications follow in 2027. Source
April 2027 (expected)
Martyn’s Law enforcement
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 asks premises to show staff who are trained and ready. It does not name a training product. Source
Realistic. Never reckless.
Some of your team have been assaulted at work. A realistic scenario must stay safe for them. These rules are part of every session.
Stop at any time
A stop control is always on screen. One tap ends the session.
A wellbeing check after every session
Each session ends with a short check-in and where to get support.
Hard content limits
No slurs, no sexual content and no threats of violence. Each scenario has a set ceiling, and a second check screens every reply.
UK or EU data
Audio and transcripts are encrypted at rest, kept for 30 days by default and never written to logs.
Consent first
Trainees see what the session involves, and agree, before their first scenario.
Fictional people only
No real companies, logos or people appear in any scenario.

What is Double Take?
Double Take is de-escalation training for security, reception and front-line teams. An AI character appears at your real reception desk through a tablet, using augmented reality (AR). The trainee talks to the character by voice, and gets a scored debrief at the end.
How does AR de-escalation training work?
The trainee points a tablet at their desk. The app finds the floor and places a life-size character on the visitor side. The character speaks, listens and reacts. A scenario director tracks the character’s agitation from 0 to 10, and each thing the trainee says moves it up or down. The session ends when the character calms down, pushes past, or the time runs out.
Do we need VR headsets?
No. Double Take runs on iPad and Android tablets that support AR. There is nothing to wear, clean or store. A flat-screen mode uses the same character when there is no space for AR.
Who writes the scenarios?
A team from human intelligence (HUMINT) operations, kidnap for ransom and extortion response, interrogation, and security risk management. These are people who have managed hostile and high-stakes conversations as their job. They design each character’s motives, hidden facts and agitation triggers.
Does it replace SIA conflict management training?
No. Double Take is practice, not a qualification. It gives people repeat practice of the skills that accredited conflict management courses teach, on shift and at their own desk.
How is a session scored?
The debrief scores five skills: opening and tone, active listening, holding boundaries, offering options and safety awareness. It shows the moments that moved the character’s agitation, with coaching points.
How long is a session?
Each beta scenario runs for up to 7 or 8 minutes, so it fits a quiet moment on shift.
What happens to voice recordings?
Audio and transcripts stay in the UK or EU, are encrypted at rest and are kept for 30 days by default. Audio is never written to logs.
How many scenarios are there?
The beta has three: the missed meeting, the tailgater and the distressed visitor. We are adding more. When you register interest, tell us which situations your team faces, and we use that to decide what we build next.
