De-escalation training for venue and door staff.
Door supervisors, stewards and bar staff meet people at their most excited, drunk or frustrated. Double Take is building venue scenarios so your team can practise refusing entry, stopping service and asking someone to leave, by voice, before it happens for real.
Where the night turns
Refusing entry without starting a fight.
A group arrives and one of them has had too much. The door supervisor has seconds to refuse one person without losing the rest of the group, in front of a queue that is watching.
Bar staff hold the line without a licence.
Stopping service, refusing a drink or asking a customer to leave is part of the bar job. Most bar and front-of-house staff have no conflict training, and the conversation often happens late, when the room is loud.
Venues must show their staff are prepared.
Martyn’s Law asks premises in scope to show that their staff are ready to act. Practice that staff can repeat, on site, is easier to show than a training day once a year.
Martyn’s Law covers an estimated 178,900 to 300,000 UK premises. Enforcement is expected from about April 2027.

How Double Take will help venue teams
Practice at the door and the bar
The app places a life-size character where the real conversation happens: at the door, the bar or the box office, on a tablet the venue already has.
Characters that push back
Each character has a motive, hidden facts and a set list of what makes them angrier or calmer, so staff learn what works by voice, not by ticking a box.
Ten minutes before doors open
Sessions are designed to take less than ten minutes, so the team can practise in the quiet hour before the doors open.
Safety first
A stop control is always on screen and every session ends with a wellbeing check. Characters have hard content limits, with no slurs, sexual content or threats of violence.
Venue scenarios are in development
Double Take’s beta scenarios are set at a building reception today. Venue scenarios are on the way. Register now and tell us what your door and bar teams face most: your answers shape what we build first.
Questions venues teams ask
Is Double Take available for venues now?
Not yet. Double Take’s venue scenarios are in development. The current beta has three scenarios set at a building reception. Register interest and we will email you when venue places open.
Is Double Take suitable for SIA door supervisors?
Double Take is built for front-line staff, including SIA door supervisors. It gives repeat practice of the conflict management skills their licence course teaches. It is practice, not a qualification.
Does Double Take help with Martyn’s Law?
Martyn’s Law does not name a training product. Double Take gives venue staff repeat, realistic practice of the conversations that test them, which helps a venue show that its staff are prepared.
Do venues need VR headsets for Double Take?
No. Double Take runs on iPad and Android tablets that support AR, with a flat-screen mode when there is no space. There is nothing to wear, clean or store.
